I am currently completing my gear in preparation for a Black Badge Course. I have a Hogue Universal Powerspeed Holster, 5 mags (9mm CZ 75/85) and a Duty Belt to start. I might opt to buy a competition belt if I can find a good deal. My question is, which magazine pouch to buy? I narrowed my choices into these 3. What will be the pros and cons? Any recommendation since this will be used in Production Class.

1. Ghost Mag Pouch: Mags can be rotated 360 degrees and have a quick release belt clip. Adjustable to any belt size. Made from indestructible ABS. They come with 2 interchangeable inserts for either dorsal or on-the-hip position (see picture). Available in black, blue, red and silver.

2. Ghost Magnetic Pouch: For super fast draw. Can be rotated and added or taken off belt with special clip whenever required. Optional: Can be ordered with or without wings.

3. CR-Speed Mag Pouch-Versa: Tension adjustment, slick insert material, and angle/height adjustments ensures the fastest mag changes. This pouch is fully ambidextrous giving left and right-handed shooters the same benefits. Fits most popular pistol mags - Hi-cap mags (Para, STI, Bul, SV Kimber etc.), Box mags (9mm and 40 double-stack mags including CZ, Browning, Beretta 92, Tanfoglio etc.), and all small frame Glock mags. Black only, but other colors are available on special request.

I have been shooting for a long time and have used a wide variety of mag pouches from Safariland (old and new style), CR speed, Guga Ribas, BladeTech (the race mag pouch that is severely cut away) and lately, the new Double Alpha pouch with the huge magnet.

I can honestly say that my winning/losing has never been a function of the mag pouch.

Honestly, they are all the same when you get used to them.

For production division, you don't need the ones that can be adjusted to a million different positions, because they're really going to be straight up and down when they're behind your hipbone. Get something that will best suit your production gun; I think that CR Speed is probably cheapest out of the 3, and can easily be converted to standard division later on if you want.

If you do decide to shoot multiple divisions, you'll probably want to get multiple rigs anyways, so stick with gear that is suited for production for now.

PS. There's no such thing as indestructible ABS

Good luck!

I agree with hungrybeagle.
I went through CR Speed, Gugga Ribbas and now I use aluminium DAA.
It is hard to pick best one, I think I may give a nod to G Ribbas, however they were bulkier and easier to crash. DAA are nice, but for that kind of money they should have more adjustment, they were build with Open Division in mind, to deep for Standard in my opinion.

HB is right; once you get used to whatever you pick they all do the same job. Having said that; if the point of definition between brands ends up being durability, CR Speed are pretty hard to beat. They are an older design but they work and are the most indestructible of all the pouches I've used (Safariland, Universal, G. Ribas, Ghost DAA and I forget what else). I've had these for years and I haven't been able to break one yet, and I break everything.

You guys have too much time in your hands to pay with different gear... My first rig was CR-Speed rig 3 years ago and I am still using those pouches now... still shooting the same guns too and they are only getting better. :)

The point is, stick with what you've got and shoot more.

Ghost 360 and Ghost Magnetic are similarly priced @ $ 30 each. CR Speed is around $ 40.00 each. I am more inclined to get the Ghost 360.

Thank you!
