magazine question

I have three S&W M&P mags in 9mm that started life as 17 round mags. They were pinned to 7 rounds so as to not get into trouble with magazine restrictions.

So here is my question, can someone suggest where I can send these mags to have them legally pinned to 10.5 rounds? A business which has the proper licence.

The magazines have witness holes along the rear spine, numbered to show how many rounds are loaded? I'll bet some bozo put a rivet in #10 to limit it, not realizing that he was thus aiming for the top of the follower instead of the bottom.

If this is the case, just moving up three holes should add three rounds, pretty close. If you pop a rivet in #13 and then remove the one from the ten hole, you won't ever be in possession of a mag. body which could theoretically hold more than ten rounds. No Prohibited Devices Licence needed, very little handy-man skill, just a rivet gun.

Go to magazineblocks dot com. I just did a bulk order for my glock pmags and oem glocks. Just passed customs and its on its way here. I currently have all 5 of my 19rnd xdm mags with magblocks and they work perfectly. I highly recommend them if you don't want to use rivets.
 
The difference is removing a rivet is destructive, while accessing the base plate is simple dis-assembly of your mag.

At any rate, the Regulations are pretty clear with phrasing like ‘cannot be easily removed’ and particular ways to make the modifications (check SOR/09-462 Part 4 Sections 4-5).

We can argue this until we're blue in the face simply because your interpretation of "cannot be easily removed" is different from the way I interpret it. At the end of the day, I still prefer mag blocks (epoxied or not) over rivet pins. The pin has a higher chance of failure, whereas with the magblock; for the most part, by the time it fails, the entire magazine will be useless.
 
This is not a matter of interpretation, nearly so much as many other parts of Canadian firearms Law.

Read those Regulations; they get somewhat specific on what is an acceptable modification to an over-capacity magazine.

There are court decisions, also.
 
mag blocks unless permanently attached to the base plate or mag body do not constitute a legally acceptable mag reduction. And this has been proven in court, no matter what ones personal opinion on the matter is. Yes, it's bs, welcome to canadian firearms law...
