I got a few Mossberg's over the last few months Maverick 88 Security & a Mossberg 500 20ga. these are my first Mossberg shotguns.

should I replace the mag Tube followers & why? if so what products work best in these Mossberg as there are a lot out there?

I’m not sure you’d be experience a difference. I replaced mine with aluminum ones just out of the theory of potential failure, but haven’t put a ton of rounds through them before or after installing the followers. My friends who have put more rounds through haven’t replaced the follower and have experienced zero problems. I’m not sure what budget you feel like spending on the shotgun, but it wouldn’t be my first place to put my money if I set a limit.
Personally where I’ve got the best value is the stock drop spacer which enables the stock to align my eye better with the barrel, and choke tubes more tailored. That’s just my experience- and I haven’t put a ton of rounds through any of them.

What brand drop spacer are you using? I did buy 2x Magpul SGA stocks last week & I'm looking for a 20ga extra-full choke as one of these guns will be a turkey blaster.

I use S&J followers in my Mossberg shotguns and other brand shotguns. I don’t necessarily think they make a performance difference but I love the fact that they are hi vis and super easy to tell if your mag tube is empty.

I'm happy to be educated, but I don't for a moment believe the aftermarket followers are "fixing" anything. They're also wildly expensive for what they are. I do have some shotguns with aftermarket followers but only for the hi viz aspect as Edgy states. I habitually count rounds as I'm shooting (targets) but sometimes I miss a round, and it's handy to roll the gun over and see chartreuse or blaze orange letting me know I've missed the count, and don't have a shell cooking in the chamber.

On any decent shotgun, the stock follower will be fine imho.

I’ve replaced all the followers in my 870’s with S&J hiviz followers, not that the factory 870 ones have ever failed me though. When you compare them to each other you can tell the S&J versions are of higher quality, the hiviz part it nice as well. I would be fine with a factory metal follower like the Ithaca m37’s have or a modern aluminium follower.

ATI. Ive used them on a Boyd stock, a factory stock, and an aftermarket (synthetic) stock in a a couple different models and found them 100% fantastic. A complete game changer since we can’t just force our neck and shoulders to be different dimensions to fit these stocks. Cheap, perfectly effective and I’ve never had to replace one.
