I inherited a rather old .264 Win Mag made by savage. It is a model 110 with a W shaped magazine spring and it is top loader. The problem I have is that the magazine spring launches the cartridge out of the magazine so aggresively that when the bolt is moved forward, the brass pops out of the magazine, the tip of the bullet touches the top of the chamber and the rear of the bullet pivots up and the front of the bolt jams into the brass about half way along the brass. I don't know alot about adjustments to these springs, but i don't think it should be all that difficult. Any help would be appreciated!!

It almost sounds like the issue is with the follower. Has this rifle ever been rebarrelled from another chambering?
