Have you any idea where a licensed Canadian might be able to purchase magazines that will work in his old Israeli-surplus CZ-75?

Hardly an expert on the Israeli models but the first step would to find out how old it is.

IIRC if its 1992 or earlier its likely a "pre-b" gun and will need the older style mags or a modification to the frame, theres a bit of a transition period around that time so its hard to tell.

If its post 1992 any old cz75B, SP-01 shadow1/2 should work assuming there isnt issues with special baseplates but I don't think there is.

If its a "Pre-B" gun you're going to have to look at used and auctions I don't think anyone is making them anymore, also a fair few retailers list magazines simply as for cz75 are actually modern -B magazines. So unless it specifically states Pre-B I would ask for clarification first.

Edit: Year of manufacture should be stamped in a oval above the ejector

Licensed or unlicensed is irrelevant, the choice is the same. Gotta modify the frame of the gun, which I believe involves cutting the corner radii in the magwell smaller.

Compare an original 75 magazine and a "B" magazine, checking both with radius gauges to see what has to be done.

I found some of the CZ SP-01 10/19 round magazines work in my pre-b. Another thing to consider is to remove the magazine brake from the pistol. You may find that magazines that are too snug fit better with the magazine brake removed.

In any case keep enjoying that trigger on the pre-b. People who know triggers, know that the lack of a firing pin block on the pre-b makes it one of the most consistent and responsive triggers on any pistol.

The goofy 10 round mags with the short bodies and plastic basepads that are about 1/4 of the length of the magazine are actually small enough that they should work in pre Bs. These are the mags that used to ship from the factory before CZ switched to the blue follower Mecgars.

I can confirm this. I have a 89 Pre-B with the smaller mag well. Newer magazines don’t work other than the one with thick plastic bottom. CZ part # is 11102.

Prophet River has some in stock. These are hard to find magazines. I would pick up a few more but I already have 6.
