I've been reading up on the newish Ruger Precision Rifles and have a question that I'm not sure I know the answer too. These rifle can use AICS, PMags, some M1/14/305 mag (apparently), and even 25rd SR25 mags. I know us Canadains can't use a Pmag larger than 5rds or 10 if marked pistol because "they are designed for use in a restricted firearm". But what about 15+Rd AICS mags? Or as 20rd M14 mag, I'm guessing no on this one cause of the designed for use catch. Before this tread goes out of hand or anything, I know no one really "needs" a mag larger than 10rds in a bolt gun but I'm sure PRS guys and some F-Classer would enjoy running gun that can have a mag big enough so they don't have to reload under time restrictions. Hope some of you out there have some insite on this then I don't have to keep running threw the possibilies in my head. Thanks all, Ian

Your understanding of magazine capacity laws is deeply flawed.

"they are designed for use in a restricted firearm". This is not a thing. A magazine designed for a semi-automatic center-fire long-arm cannot exceed the capacity of five rounds for which the magazine was designed to hold. A magazine designed to be used in a commonly available handgun cannot have it's capacity exceed 10 rounds of the cartridge that the magazine was designed to hold.

"AR type" (AR15, AR10/SR25/DPMS308/XCR-M) magazines cannot (and never will, under current legsitaltion) hold more than 5 or 10 rounds of the cartridge they were designed to hold. An AICS magazine designed to hold more than 10 rounds is feasible but nobody has bothered. It seems nobody is smart enough to design a reliable, detachable bolt-action rifle magazine that is both compact (ie double stack) and has a "high" capacity (>10 rounds), despite the Enfield series of rifle having that feature more than 100 years ago. An M14 magazine with a capacity over 5 rounds will never happen unless a company puts an M14 pistol into production and designs mags for it, and AIA mags are not M14 mags. Well, they are, but they aren't as well.
