Over the years, the British army dump permission of mine has produced some great WW2 relics. It also gives up some relatively common items, but everything is worth saving if it is from WW2, (in my opinion!). Magazines, magazines, magazines! From lots of different weapons.

It's odd that after all the recycling they did during the war that they just threw all of that away afterward.

After the war they just had so much stuff that they really didn't need it all. There was cases of just dumping rifles and ammo into the water as it wasn't worth anyones time to do otherwise with them (think manpower, money, and space required just to store it, grease it, inventory it, maintain it, rebuild it, etc.) . For example that SMLE nosecap there I am pretty sure is one of the ones made to accept the Type 30 Arisaka Bayonets which was a WWI requirement for the Navy as they also bought a bunch of Type 30 and Type 38 Arisakas to try and allow some more SMLEs and P07 bayonets to go to the front. After WWI not really much need for a item like that as they now have a massive surplus of rifles and bayonets.

Prince Rupert BC had 1000's of Canadian and US troops stationed there. My Dad worked at the shipyard building liberty ships and corvettes.
After the war, he worked on barges that dumped military equipment new in cases in the ocean. There are three deep areas that were used.
US and Canadian equipment was dumped in 1946/47
They loaded it on big barges and pushed it all off with big "cats"

Indeed it is. I also have a couple of nose caps with a lug for Ross bayonets.

I know a spot along lake Huron where the military bulldozed dozzens of aircraft; Tiger Moths, Ansons, Yales, Cranes, Cornells off of a bluff when they did not sell during the war.
