A nice Husky has entered the family! With the caliber being featured in a couple of mags over the last couple of months, I don't think I'm short on places to start, but I do like reading!

The link that's been posted in other threads to that PDF is dead, and I can't find it in the wayback machine either. If anyone has a copy they could share, I'd be grateful!

Cheers,
DS

Got one, thank you!

The Sauer 101 models are well under 7 pounds. I hope you'll enjoy to have it kick the s##t out of you. I guess if you download the handloads and add a very heavy scope, it should tame it down.

My rifle isn't a 101, it's an old Husky with more than a few decades on the odometer. The load data was more of my interest than the rifle in the article.

I got one a few months ago; I wanted something different to take to the range, and will likely never hunt with it. It is just over 7 lbs, and the first range trip consisted of a friend and myself each putting two shots downrange... and concluding we need a recoil pad. LOL. I picked up a slip-on limbsaver, and it is doing a great job! I put 30 rounds through it in one sitting, sighting in both the iron sights and the scope.

Currently loading 286 gr PPU JSP bullets as they are cheap.

Enjoy your rifle!!

For scale, one of my loads beside one of my 6.5 x 55 loads.

Nice! I have a couple Huskies as well (9.3x62 and 6.5x55) and love both of them. I'm planning on loading some basic Hot-Cors for the 9.3, but am undecided on the 6.5. What are you loading for yours?

Varget and 414 worked well for me, hitting 2500fps with the 286grs. Worked it down a little as recoil was stout, but shot real well out of my HVA 98, under and inch at 100m.
Little hard on the teeth firing that off the bench with no recoil pad lol.

It's odd that Reloder 17 (one of the slower powders tested) was only tried on the lightest bullet - the 220 gr Lapua.

I love it with the 285 gr Prvi - a compressed 67.0 grs gives me a bit over 2600 fps.

I just bought a Husky 1640 in 9.3x 62. It has a recoil pad and I find that when standing, there is no recoil issue. I do the chrony testing from the standing position.

I have been shooting the Speer 270s because they are cheap. On sale this week at Midway, BTW.

My load at the moment is 61 to 62 gr of N150, for 2475 to 2550 fps. Will do some accuracy testing tomorrow.

This rifle makes me want to go moose hunting again.

Is this the magic metrics pdf?

Update:

Did the testing at 100 yards. The 61 and 62 gr of N150 both shot ok - but the 61 was slightly better.

I think I will Chrony the 62 again and reduce a bit for exactly 2500 fps. probably about 61.4 gr of N150.
