Hello, Just wondering what everyone is using for powder ? I am looking to get some hand loads worked up for my Sako hunting rifle. It's a Sako V SS 24" barrel with a Corlanes radial muzzle brake. Chambered in .300 WinMag. Will be loading Barnes 175gr LRX bullets.

I'm a fan of imr 7828 for the 7mm Rem mags, 300 Win mags and the 300 Weatherby magnums, It's not that the velocities are higher than the RL's line of powder but they do produce excellent groups.

Been using MagPro, only thing I can afford these days at $400/8lbs, no complaints, works good, meters great being ball, accurate enough for target shooting.

I use H1000, 7828, RL22, IMR and H4831 and a few others once in awhile. If recoil is an issue 4350 will calm it down a lot for the bit lost in velocity. The cartridge tends to be easy to get along with.

If I had to bet the farm on a random new 300 Win and one powder it would be H1000. For bullets about your weight you can just about bet on ending up at 80-81 grains; but work up, blah, blah, blah. A good 26” barrel with give 3150, 24” right around 3050 fps. Its almost boring its so predictable.

These days it is about what powders you can find....Viht 560, Magpro, and Magnum are easier to find than Rl 22, Rl26 and Norma MRP. Ramshot Magum powder gave gave me sub moa accuracy with TTSX 180 grains and a mv of 3050 fps. There is no reason why it should not work with LRX 175. And then there is the good old H4831 sc....may be not the highest velocity but good accuracy.
