I can honestly say I had NO idea that I could purchase a MR .22 Mag Semi..... ( I did how ever know about VQ Semi Mags... )

So I've been spending a couple days researching and reading up on this intriguing rifle!

I do believe I'm sold and will end up selling my Marlin Bolt XT .22 Mag and making the expensive purchase on the MR.

I do currently own a MR .40 and love it. It works and looks amazing! So I do like them!

Does anyone own one or have any advice on the MR Mag????? IT would be greatly appreciated!!!

I too looked at them. There a two or three dealers. I couldnt justify the money compared to building a 10/22.
I wish we could get just their barrels.
Hope you have fun shooting!

Finally an honest guy! Everyone says there 10/22 is cheap to mod.
Most Ive seen are 1k+
Im guessing you bought a sr22 to start out?

Nope....

I bought a black synthetic stock 10/22 from P&D in Edmonton in 2009 I believe.....

IT now has a custom Richards Microfit Silhouette Stock, TG 2000 Trigger Assembly, GM Barrel and much more.....

But yes... it's not cheap to build an accurate "awesome" 10/22 in my opinion!!!!!

I have a MR 22wmr, nice lite well built gun, shoots really well and for the price I don't think it can be beat. I've modded 4 10/22 and also own a vq 17hmr and the MR can run with any of them. IMHO I don't think you'd be sad with it

I see they use the same 10/22 trigger assembly.... so with that being said, I would also toss in a VQ TG2000 complete kit. I have one now and can't say enough good about it!

I would assume the ejector is the same as a 10/22 as well?? I also use a VQ firing pin and ejector on my Ruger....

The Trigger group is the same except it has a heavier hammer spring. I have A VQ extractor in mine and a power custom tool steel firing pin.
I messed around with a Timney trigger in it for awhile then swapped back to the original that I reworked (polished, sear angle and bobby pin) and added a wolf extra heavy 10/22 hammer spring.
These are very light rifles but optics can change that. I was running a 6.5-20 viper but it was too heavy, went to a Mueller 8-32x44 and still didn't like the balance. Now I'm running a SPARC and its great but defiantly not as accurate as the 8-32. Also VQ has a Trigger group for the 10/22 magnum so keep that in mind and Hi-Cal has the 25 round Mags for the rifle.

If I might hijack this thread a bit and ask, would after market stocks like the archangel nomad fit this rifle and function considering the rifle has some gas port in it. Is the exterior dimensions of the rifle receiver the same as a 22lr 10//22? Of course I realize the receiver has a large rail on top, but I could remove it.

thanks and sorry
Moe

I have the Mag Research with 18" heavy Stainless barreled 22 magnum with Barracuda Pepper Stock and I love it, EXTREMELY accurate, will do 1/2" - 3/4" groups at 100 meters with CCI 40 gr HP Maxi Mags. Never jams and looks incredible. Just gotta fand some VQ 25 round mags for it... tough to find?! Ugh.....
I know some like that light fibre barrel but I am more traditional and love the Stainless
barrel look. These Mag Research guns are all great and I would not hesitate buying another...

Excellent feed back guys! I really appreciate the input. I see they have the ss barreled guns
in stock and I can buy one now, but I really liked the idea of a really light carbon barrel.... I'll sure have to think a bout it. My Marlin XT is the ss bull barrel and I do love that gun, so I'm sure I'd love either one.

Upon lots if research between the VQ vs Mag Lite I pulled the pin on the Mag Lite today from Prophet River Firearms.

I then purchased the TG2000 Magnum from Milarms.

Once I get them on Monday I will surely post up pics of the beauty!!!

Oh by the way, they do have 3 more rifles in stock. I bought the last trigger assembly. Source for Sports in Bonnyville has none and told me it would be months before they could acquire one.
