I think I want a Magnum research BFR ,after seeing the movie Loooper . Does anyone have one and what are your opinions on this revolver?
What caliber did you pick and why? I'm leaning towards 45/70 but I can't make up my mind.
 
I have the 10" in 45/70 and I like it a lot..Its a bit on the heavy side so you need to get on target and make your shot before you topple over :). Works well with both modern loads as well as black powder. Can't go too heavy on the bullet side or they will protrude out the cylinder. I shoot 300, 350 and 405s without any difficulty.

45/70 is the only caliber to get that handgun in.

Other calibers can be found in other handguns. The 45/70 caliber is the very reason to buy that particular firearm.

You can also pay a little extra, and they will include a .450-Marlin cylinder that can be swapped in and out. The .450-Marlin is actually the Magnum version of the 45/70, sort of like the .357-Magnum is to the .38-Special.

Uhm, you are a a bit off IMO comparing the 45-70 and 450 Marlin to 38 Special and 357 Magnum.

In handloads these two .458 calibre rounds are virtually identical ballistically speaking. Marlin has slightly heavier brass and headspaces on the belt very similar to H&H, but are not interchangeable. (the .458x2inch is based on the actual H&H case, but it remains a wildcat cartridge)
