Why so expensive for 17HMR / 22WMR (17MR too but not as bad)? around $16 a box of 50 same price for 9mm

Not as big of a demand as .22lr, still a good price for ammo though.

wanted to buy the SAKO QUAD in 22WMR or 17HMR.

I could have sworn my local Wal-mart had 50 packs of .22WMR for 7 bucks.

CCI Maxi-mag is 9.63 at my local sporting good store in Ottawa.. But the Remington 33 grain stuff is 16 something.. and there is no .17hmr ammo below 13 dollars

Premium bullets cost more.
Most .17hmr use expensive bullets.

mainly because of the lack of demand for example 7.62x39mm uses prolly around 10 times the componants as a .17HMR but since the demand is huge its cheap in comparision....

also as mentioned compared to .22lr most magnum rimfires use much better bullets....
