What does this mean, MAGNUM.

Someone told me that it is just another word for the 3'' shells.

When a shotgun has Magnum printed on it, oviously it can fire magnum, so does that refer to just a 3'' shell?

Magnum does not refer to a length of shell... it refers to the strength of the shell..... there are 2 and 3/4 inch light loads, heavy loads and a couple of magnum loads.....

then there are 3 inch shells and now also 3 and 1/2 inch shells..

You do need to know what length your gun uses and do not exceed that.

This is also information taught in the firearms courses and in most hunter ed classes... ?

^x2...check the head and data stamps respectivley to be sure and safe...first time shooting a 3inch mag slug is a enlightening experience to say the least Be sure to wear a heavy jacket!
