I'm looking at getting the MagPul CTR and MOE stock they come in mil-spec or commercial, So which should I get & why, is one better then the other? Note: at this time I don't have the Buffer tube so I'm open to options.

Go with the CTR, has the locking latch, keep the stock rock solid. The MOE doesn't have the locking latch and may have some slide wobble, although guys have been reporting that they are also tight fitting.

I have a CTR on my Sabre Defence AR, it has a commercial tube. It was the best investment I put on my rifle, I love the CTR stock!

the main difference is the dia. of the buffer tube... so which stock you get depends on which buffer you have. since you don't have a buffer, I would see which one you can get. both will be hard to find. you might only be able to find one or the other. in which case you'll need that size of CTR...

Scott, I know this, maybe I was not clear enough. if I have the choice of buying a buffer tube should I get a mil spec or commercial. I would like to get the CTR first & my second choice is a MOE stock. but I need a buffer first.

Doesn't really matter...

Depends on the manufacturer, but IIRC Mil Spec uses 7075 T6 Al, and Commercial uses 6061 T6 Al, although some commercial spec tubes may use 7075 Aluminum.

Don't quote me on that though (I forget where I read that, so take it with a grain of salt).... Commercial Spec. buffer tubes are thicker though.

IMHO, get whatever is easier to get. In the end, it wont make a big difference... I got a Commercial Spec. CTR & buffer tube, for an AR15 buffer tube conversion. rock solid setup! :D

ETA

ONE thing that you should keep in mind, is that Mil Spec. tubes have FULL 75% threads, whereas commercial tubes have closer to 50% threading, so the Mil. Spec. tubes have stronger threading. This is according to the sheet I got with my CTR. FWIW.
