Hey everyone,

I've been talking to Kerry Davis from magpul about running a DSA, and DSA2 course up here in the Greater Vancouver area. Just trying to get a rough estimate on how many people this would bring out, and if people have input on what a good host range would be. Everything is pretty tentative right now until they can figure out ITAR laws for getting there weapons into Canada, and working the DSA2 course with our magazine restrictions. Also when would be the best month to run it for people. I was thinking March-May.

Heres the course info.

Sounds like quite the course. I'd like to even take it, though I'd never be able to use it in the field.

With BC Ambulance, we don't even go over needle decompressions and nasopharyngeal airways... Crazy.

Looks like it'd be fun!

I could set-up something at PoCo if there was atleast 10 people to attend to cover the cost.
As for the reg's I think it would be quite easy to do since PoCo hosted the World Poilce & Fireman games last year.

Would you need your black badge course to attend the DSA2 course? When are you thinking of holding this course? I guess, being in Manitoba I would need more info before saying yes or no.

Thanks
Eric

I would love to take this training, but I just don't think it's in the cards for me next year. Too many prior engagements. Good to know it's out there though. This kind of thing could be incredibly useful some day. Hopefully, not, but it could.

I would have been interested in DSA2 but I don't think I meet the civi criteria ("Civilian with a certificate from a credible weapons manipulation course"). I take it everyone must meet the full listed criteria for the course, correct?

I'm OFA lvl 3 certified, so DSA probably wouldn't be worth the cost.

Nice to see these kinds of courses coming North of the border, good luck with everything!

Cheers.

You don't need your Black Badge to use a holster in Canada. There is no Canadian law that says anything about a black badge.

Having you Black Badge before using a holster, depends on the rules of the specific range you plan to attend, so check first though.

Much like ante_1313, I have my advanced EMS training and was wondering more if the black badge would qualify as "civilian with a certificate from a credible weapons manipulation course". All the material covered in the DSA course I'm all ready competent in but it's the DSA2 course that I have interest in.
Thanks
Eric

I'm interested in the first class for sure; the second if I qualify per the requirements as a civilian with a credible weapons manipulation course (sounds like a RPAL course, no? ;) ).
