The magpul enhanced .70" Buttpad (the one with the vented design) is advertised as softening the feel of recoil. I bought it from Brownells intending to use it on a CTR stock for my Remington 870 style shotgun (along with an AR stock adapter).
However, this buttpad feels very hard. Using hand strength, I can barely get the rubber vented areas to compress at all. The buttpad also has a hard rubber spine running up the center of the pad (between the vents on both sides) which further prevents the buttpad from compressing.
Is this normal? This pad is much more hard and rigid than most pads designed for shotguns. I realize this buttpad was designed for AR's, I just want to check.
