I jumped into the world of custom 10/22s and decided to buy a Magpul X-22 Hunter stock for my custom 10/22 (Dlask TUF-22) that I wanted to use for some NRL-22-style shooting.

After mounting a Vortex Strike Eagle 5-25x56 scope using the lowest 34mm rings I could find (MDT Premier, medium height), I noticed that I needed a cheek riser. Naturally, I looked at the options from Magpul but none were high enough. So, I made up one from some foam and masking tape. Once I found the height necessary, I went looking for a more "permanent" option.

I was pleased to find one at Matthew's Fabrication that gave me enough height and went with the Adjustable ELR riser at 2.25" after several emails with the owner to find the correct riser for my needs. They're great people to deal with.

The riser arrived and I began the installation. I carefully chose the locations for the bolts to avoid interfering with the internal supporting structure in the buttstock and drilled the holes. The job went fairly easy and the result works awesome. The riser is perfectly positioned and very comfortable.

So, for those of you considering a larger scope with the Magpul X-22 stock, I highly recommend this option over the Magpul offerings as it allows you to dial in the right amount of rise and get a perfect cheek weld every time.

Shoot straight. :)

Really nice set up...

How is the overall accuracy ?

Thanx

The rifle was built by Leigh at Dlask has the following: Dlask TUF-22 receiver, Kidd bolt (and all Kidd bolt internals), Dlask charging handle, Green Mountain fluted sporter barrel (901775), Ruger BX trigger, Magpul Hunter X-22 stock (modified).

So far, I'm actually very impressed. I've done some initial group testing with CCI SV which has given me 0.6" at 50 and around 1.5" at 100yds at times. However, the BX trigger isn't really designed for precision. It's nice and light but not as crisp as I'd like. So, I'm waiting for a Brimstone Tier 1 trigger to arrive and then I'll get serious about groups and experiment with better quality ammo.
