I got a set of these for my AR15 and the only way I can get them to pop up is be pressing on the top of them, the tabs won't fully release them. I figured maybe it was just a bad set or something, but then I got a set for my M305 in a Troy MCS and the same thing is happening. The ones for the AR15 were ordered from Questar, and the ones on the M305 are from Brownell's.

Anyone else experience any issues with these? It's not a deal breaker for me, just kind of odd. I can't be bothered to send them back so I'll live with it.

That's kind of odd. Wonder how mine are different. I mean I don't think I'm doing it wrong, press down on the tab, not rocket science, haha.

Tabs

I don't have any Gen 2s, but the dozen Gen 1s I have all worked ok.

From what I understand, they were originally designed to flip up using the tabs, but then people discovered they would flip up just as well by pressing on the top of the body, where the Magpul logo is on the Gen 1s. When the Gen 2s came out, they replaced the logo with the grooved indents to provide a more positive feel.

I (and a few others from what I have read) have ground off the tabs with a Dremel, and press the top of the body to deploy them. I found that it was easier, and there was less chance of accidental deployment, especially when using the charging handle. It makes them a little more compact as well.

As yours don't deploy using the tabs, you could probably do the same.

Regards.

My brother ordered a pair. Second time out with them the metal front sight post broke off inside the plastic adjustment tool..

Love all their other stuff though.

My Gen 1 front sight spring is gone. Poof. Warranty. I ordered the gen 2 and there isn't a problem there. I wanted something light that works, it seems to be ok...not sure I will rely on this forever...maybe too cheaply made overall. They are plastic. Expect the worst.
