Hi nuts,

Just recently purchased some 5/30 PMAGS for my M10x and I can get 5 rounds snuggly in the mags but with 5 in the mag I cannot rack the rifle, as it gets stuck less than half way because the bolt is binding up on the cartridge. With 4 it runs like a top. Any of you experience this? All of the ones I bought experienced this. Any options other than repinning? Not trying to put another hole in the mags if there's an alternative. Thanks.

most ak and some t81 mags are pinned incorrectly for canadian market by some sort of evil grey state power. if your m10x cycles on 4 rounds, you will have to repin your mags at 5.5 rounds to allow bolt some freedom while pressing the mag loaded at 5 rounds. I would not be surprised if problem is somewhere else as m10x is still pretty raw prototype. just fyi, repinning is legal as long as at any given moment in time unpinned mag is non functional at more than 5 rounds, however if mag is fully assembled and accepts more than 5 rounds, at that specific moment the law is being broken, so make sure you do this mod quickly and because there is a way to do this mod and keep your mag dysfunctional piece of metal, by the end of the mod you are still totally legal.... the only thing is that make sure the new pin is not removable with bare hands without tools being used.

Thanks for the detailed reply. Would you recommend repinning on the side (currently) or on the spine?

I find pinning mags with an extension to the follower works well, that way you can fine tune the capacity to exactly what works for your rifle.
In the past I have used aluminum arrow shafts epoxied to followers; however this was for AR mags and Min-14 mags., and M14
It takes a little longer to pin a mag this was, but the end result is much nicer, no multiple rivet holes, or rivets that can work free, and the mag can be broken down any time for cleaning without drilling out rivets.; it took me 30sec to break the mag down to snap the pic below.
I usually leave the follower extension a little long and then just take a file and remove material from the bottom of the extension until you get that perfect 5.5 round sweet spot.

Pmag actually makes a factory version of an extended follower for States that have 10 rnd capacity laws, it does not help us with our 5 rnd limit but same type of fix.

spine pinning is preferred. you can fine tune the mag too, I e at exactly at 5 . 5 rounds, imo. the pin is easily accessible and ..... if you want to clean your mag or lubricate you may remove the base plate, and then remove pin, then put the follower back in with the spring, use table as a base plate, insert the pin, then put the base plate back. in other words, if mag is not pinned to 5rnd it should be absolutely dysfunctional at any moment in time, in case big bro is knocking yr door

that s why i like very well 5 rounds magazine not the 30 rounds ones.
yes, with 5rnd mag it is hard to pin it incorrectly :)
But there are multiple reasons why I like 30rnd mag, even if pinned to 5 :)
For training, to continue with the same reflex I already have and "just in case" are the main reasons

yes they re better (30 rounds ones) and the just in case may come and faster that we think ...

It seems the import of the magpul mays pinned them to a tight 5 rounds, same went for me with not being able to charge the rifle on a fUlL 5 rnds.
I repinned them, didn't care about an extra tiny hole on the side. Work as they should now
