Magpul Unveils New 7.62mm High-Capacity Drum Magazine

I've never understood how guys can justify dropping $200+ on a 5 round magazine just because it looks cool.
I do like the look of them and wouldn't mind having one just to take pictures with but with it neutered to 5 and costing as much as 10 regular magazines I just don't get it.

I understand the end of the world crap but I can also drill the pins out of my 20 round mags and carry 10 or more of them on a vest if needed. Easier to carry, easier to handle, rifle doesn't weigh 10 pounds extra.
For the same price you can have a $200 drum that holds 50 rounds unpinned or you can have 6 pmags that hold 120 rounds combined. I know which way I'm going if I want firepower that I can carry and move with.

To me it seems like it's 100% cosmetic. It does look cool, can't argue that.
I'll yell out "SUPPRESSING FIRE!!!" and you dump those 5 rounds as fast as you can.

Sorry, I just don't get it. If they were under $100 I could see it but not when they want $200 for a big bulky 5 round mag that probably only cost them $40 to make.

And talk about it all you want, until you drill it you've done nothing wrong. We all know that if we come to WROL scenario it won't matter what you do because the cops will just be people trying to survive and protect the ones they love just like the rest of us.
Plus, who the hell is going to grab their 308 semi for a survival rifle in a situation like that. Personally I'm grabbing my AR-15 and drilling the rivets from the 30 round mags. You won't need 308 power for anything in a scenario like that, a 223 can feed and protect you unless the fish cops keep working through the apocalypse making sure you use a large enough bullet to take big game.

You can bet that even after a nuclear holocaust, and all world governments cease to exist that the ATF and the RCMP will still be there harassing gun owners.

You can be sure the CFO office will still be open trying to be a pain in the arse. I really don't understand those people, their job depends on us owning guns yet they all seem to be anti's that want to take away our guns. Don't they realize that if they win they are also unemployed?

Personally I hate the bulkiness of drum mags. I especially see NO usefulness of one for a 308. Heavy, bulky, no thanks.

If the SHTF I'll stick to the 5.56 and my Surefire 60 round quad stack mags. They make them in 100 rounds as well but I don't have any.

In my opinion these are a much more practical high capacity mag option than a drum mag.

*borrowed pictures from the net. Too lazy to dig my mags out for a photo op.

In my mind, Nx20 round PMAGs seem like a far more manageable proposition from a loadout perspective.

I also think the same way, I rather spend that money on regular mags that actually fit in my pouches. Not saying these aren't cool, but I dont see myself carrying a drum mag during a SHTF scenario, the weight alone of an AR10 is bad enough without having a brick strapped to the bottom of the rifle...lol... and imagine how bad that #### will snag on you plate carrier and gear.

Why not have the drum mag in the gun and have the mags in pouches as back up.

I'd grab my fightlite belt fed and link all my 5 round belts into a real belt.

Same reason non competitive shooters have $3-$12K rifles. Or have trophy partners who don’t believe in conjugal relations. That costs a lot more $$$ than guns even.

Well, the ATF are already slimy, heartless, statist-zombies who prey on society and ceaselessly infect/ruin everyday lives...

Oh, just saw the post "also" referenced the "fine people" of the RCMP firearms group... :canadaFlag:
