I dropped the CMMG .22 conversion into my DD MK18 today and took the kids to the range for Family Day. We had a blast, even my daughter (who previously hasn't expressed much interest in shooting) loved shooting the .22 AR. We only fired about 150 rounds (some old 50rd. box Remington, some AE 38gr and some Win 555 pack 36gr) and reliability was 100%. The not fun part was constantly reloading the single CMMG mag I have.

My Q is, what 25-ish round mags do you recommend for a .22 conversion AR? I could by more of the same from CMMG (reliability had been flawless), but I've seen that Black Dog and Chiappa also make mags. Maybe there are other makers I haven't found yet? I've also seen some reference to some mags having a spring pull down that would make loading a lot easier, cuz I find force feeding those little .22 rounds tricky for my big hands.

Part 2 of the question would be where to find said mags.

BD or cmmg works

Look around on the internet. I was able to get a mickey mouse butler creek lip loader that was converted to load cmmg mags. Takes me 10 secs to load a mag. 30s to load a drum

I have Black Dog and IMI mags for my .22 upper. I also bring lots of preloaded mags. I take six minimum with the kids (2 each) and they can reload their own mags while the other kids shoot. Works out well.
