Hi Guys,

could you please recommend some value mags for P226 Extreme in 9mm and SR1911 8-round mags?

I think for P226 9mm, MEC-GAR is pretty good with decent price. not sure about 8-round mags for SR1911. E-Lander is cheap, but I read mixed reviews from all over the place. So, I am lost. Thanks

Mecgar is the way to go for the Sig, they're stamped made in Italy. Checkmates would be the second choice, stamped made in USA. I picked up some mecgar P226 mags in 9 at alflahertys(Ontario), about four to five months ago. If you order from Sig it's a crapshoot on which mags you'll get.

That said I've read checkmate's quality is getting much better.

Brownells carries Chip McCormick Power Mags. The Shooting Star magazines are an older-style design that fits eight rounds into a standard seven round length body. Of the two I would recommend the Power Mags for best results.

Other good alternatives are Wilson ETM or 47D and Tripp Cobra Mags.

Mec-Gar magazines are the correct choice for SIGs. They are the "good" OEM magazine. Recently, SIG pistols have shipped with inferior Checkmate magazines as a cost-cutting measure.

Thanks Rocket An and tjhaile. Just ordered 3 mec-gar p226 from Irunguns. even with tax and conversion, still cheaper than Alflahertys due to the HST in Ontario.

i know a lot of the guys here who like to spend money on good stuff will look down their noses at me for saying this, but in my 2 SR1911's i run Dlask mags which are just rebranded ATC mags.

ive never had a problem with them in any of my guns.

and cheap too.

The Mecgar's function really nice in my 226 but don't hold up for IPSC getting dropped on the concrete all the time. I've switched to the all steel Sig mags now. The last order I made of sig mags for 9mm came a few weeks ago and they were all in .40, luckily they seem to feed and function just fine!
