Having cured the short stroking issue with my Mini14, I needed a convenient way to transport mags/ammo so I purchased a load bearing vest. The mag pouches are a bit deep for 20rnd mags and fishing them out was real pita, so I started looking for Magpul magazine assist loops when I read one suppliers details stating:

*Patended design based upon the tried and true para-cord loops and duct-tape tabs currently in use with special warfare units worldwide.

So being a handy type of guy I decided to have a go at a home made version.

I give you MagTugs

If you fold 1/4 width of the "tug" in on each side so that your seam is in the middle, you get 2 rolled outside edges. Put the seam on the inside of the loop and yer golden. :)

For a few pennies worth of tape you can have a fully functional and surprisingly attractive helper for your mags.
Less bulky and far more economical than the Magpul offering, these will never pull off in the heat of battle
Feel free to pass this around but please give credit where due.

Enjoy,
BR

Interestingly enough, magpul was started to create an inexpensive easy to use product to replace what the current being used. Duct tape and para cord.

So its more like a re-invention.
