Can anyone tell me if there are restrictions on shipping just the bullets, lets say 500 or so for reloading? The reason im asking is i contacted a US online store about shipping to Canada and they said that they do. Only things they said they cant ship are optics, rifle stocks and dangerous goods like powder and primers. So far i ordered a Lee Hand press and other items that i received with no problems. I didnt think there would be a problem shipping bullets so i went ahead and ordered them, but i havent recieved them. Could they be stuck in customs?

There are stickies on importing from the states. The last time I did I had to get the approvals from the canada gvt and send then to the US supplier.

Order all you like, but be prepared to potentially lose your order unless the US store has jumped through all the hoops...and there are many hoops...

Well i got my shipment of bullets from Canada Post yesterday, customs went through it and looks like they were ok with it, they must have been backed up as i ordered it a month ago:eek: . Already loaded up a few rounds of 303, im going to try them out at the range on the weekend.:D

Bullets from the US

Hope I don't cut my own throat, but I have had excellent service from Lock, Stock, and Barrel out of Valentine, Nebraska, Harvey has been quick and efficient at getting my Nosler .20 cal 40 Gr., for me.
He has a great catalogue that is available.
His web site is www.lockstock.com.
Anybody heard if these bullets are available in Canda yet? Seems as if they are a little rare.
Take care de Gunmedic.

no bullets

For sure that Midsouth and Cabelas will not ship bullets to Canada. Just got off the phone with Midsouth to check again and was told that they will not ship in any manner to Canada. This is what I was told before in a previous order.

This has been posted more than once. I have copied and pasted below a previous reply:

To all of you who are ordering bullet/components without U.S. Export permits you are in violation of U.S. law.

ALL reloading components require a U.S. export permit regardless of value. There are NO exceptions.

Aliens in the U.S. (Non U.S. residents)CAN NOT posses Ammo or reloading components without proper authorization while in the U.S. You can have your vehicle & goods seized, along with being held for up to 30 days in jail without being charged.

The U.S. authorities do roving spot checks at border crossings and a few fellow CGNs have had the experience of going through them with a few hassles.

if you are having restricted items shipped to yourself here in Canada, you may have your order siezed by U.S. authorities and your name/address will be flagged by them. The business that shipped the items to you will be ine a world of ####.

Midway USA no longer ships to Canada because they were caught shipping without the proper permits and were fined $500,000 U.S.

You are also violating CGN board policy which states that the Import/Export regulations of BOTH Canada AND the U.S. MUST be adhered to if posting info on this board.Any posts that admit to violating U.S. law & CGN policy will be deleted or edited without warning. If the same members keep violating CGN policy & U.S. law, they may be suspended from the site.

This topic keeps poping up over and over, and the warning have been repeated MANY,MANY times.

All members should read through the CGN rules & policies from time to time to refresh their memories.

Thx. SKBY.

And besides, you have easy access to the banners on this page , a chance to support the folks that support this site, and the shooting sports in Canada.
After all is it not in our best interest to build in this nation , not look elsewhere. I know what your thinking, I had the same feeling on this best bang for the buck, but once folks think about it a while views will change.
Less hassle with customs, that view your quality components like it was junk anyway and handle it with less than the minimum care.

Here is something else to consider - this site is monitored. Folks are identifying businesses who are exporting from the US in violation of US federal law. Whether they are doing this in ignorance or are aware that they are committing an offence is irrelevant. I would suggest that business names and contact information be edited out.

Stop! Violation!

I am not in violation of US law by ordering bullets and components. The business is in violation of US law if they don't have the permit.

Otherwise what you're saying is that the customer bears the onus of ensuring that the business south of the border is operating lawfully within their own country? Seems odd to me.

Please note this is just a point for discussion. I buy from Higginson's, Wholesale Sports and local gunshops myself :)

I wonder if the US law provides for "conspiracy to commit". If it does, one could get a very nasty flag attached to one's name in the data base.

I didn't say anything.
As my post stated I simply copied and pasted a previous reply on this topic. It happens to be by a gunnutz moderator.

So taken to the (illogical) conclusion, if we're legally able (according to Canadian law) to order a firearm or accessory from, say, the Czech Republic, are we then morally and legally responsible to research Czech law to make sure the vendor is doing things right on his end? I think not.
