I really tried searching, but I couldn't find any definitive rules for receiving restricteds through the mail. Is a STATT required if you have to pick up from the post office? Or are they required to bring it to your door? Is an ATT required to have it shipped?

I can't seem to find the answers to these questions anywhere. :confused:

Sellers or Buyers dont need a tatt to transport through mail as long as you use Canada Post and Canada Post only. A seller will need a tatt to transport it to the post office for delivery. If Canada Post deliveres it to your front door and you actualy recieve it from the mailman you dont need a tatt. If it ends up at the post office and you need to pick it up you should get a tatt from the post office to your home.

tatt= temporary authorizaion to transport

That makes sense. So, if I get a delivery notice in the mail to pick up the package, I would have to call the CFC for a STATT at that time?

Yes if you do it the correct way by the book.

Some people call and get a tatt to pick up the firearm at the post office. That is the 100% correct legal way off doing it. Some people dont get a tatt to transport it home. The reasoning behind not getttig a tatt to transport home from the post ofice is some people like to play dumb and say that you never really know whats in the box you just picked up at the post office so why bother getting a tatt for it.

Here's another question then. Chances are, the firearm is not trigger locked when shipped. Are you not then in violation of transport regulations?

You cannot play it 'by the book' when taking sold or bought restricted guns to/from PO. If you sold one and taking it to PO even with STATT and trigger locked, your reg.cert. is already revoked. If picking up at PO, you have to have it trigger locked and you need to open that package to put lock on, at PO and have valid reg. cert. which you don't have. So, there.
