Guess?
Hello,

I was wondering if their is a "Dangerous Goods" charge levied on ammunition purchases made within Canada from a dealer and mailed within Canada.

If yes, does Canada Post ship it, or does another carrier take it?

If no, I was wondering why I was charged an added fee? Is it an inter-provincial thing?

Just curious.

I may be talking out my ass so, others please feel free to correct me but...I believe that...

Canada post will not ship ammunition.

Ammunition is considered a hazardous material and as such most couriers will charge a hazmat fee and a Dangerous Goods declaration form will need to be completed before it can be shipped.

I hope that answers your question.

Legislation allows carriers to ship ammo as Consumer Goods, but the carrier's policy may bar ammo. Canada Post does not ship ammo.

Regards,

Peter

One thing I have to tell you is that not every one from Canpar understand their own rule. So pack it in a way that doesn't look like ammo will help you a lot.
