maine bear hunt with hounds

Has anyone done this here? I'm screwed over this entire year to heal up my tendon but I'd love to try it in 2018. Just curious if anyone has done it before

Maine offers many hound hunts and my wife can do her wine and cheese tour stuff on the way there and back. Win win for both of us plus I've never hunted bear in the states and never been to Maine

Lots of Americans come up and run bear in Ontario, I would imagine maybe more now with the spring season open again. There's a couple outfits in Ontario that cater to them. I don't have any info right now but you should be able to find some info. I used to come across a guy wiarton way with bear hounds and I talked to a guy in Sudbury awhile back he had bear hounds too. I've got Black and Tans and once and awhile I have a litter of pups and I get some calls from bear hunters looking at the pups.

Edit- if I had a spot to go I'd be running bear with my hounds.

I got a spot to hunt but if the bear decides not to tree up it could be a nightmare as there basically no roads so you'd have to keep up with them
I'm going to start jogging this summer again to get back into shape. Most Ontario bear hunts are in usd anyway and the few running hounds were $2500-3500 usd in Ontario. I've found a few in Maine that are only $1600-2200 usd

My Ontario bear is cheap. I hunt crown land and now camp right from my truck

Yes accessibility is the issue. Find a spot with some more access and Ill be there with hounds, pickup, and SxS in tow. Probably would have a good friend with his hounds and another truck and atv too.

edit- Check Michigan too, seems to me like Maine has more regulations.
