Looks like Savage finally wants to play with the big boys in the deep end of the pool.

Umm, Uncle Sam is looking for an easy to service modular rifle system that doesn't cost a mint to run and can be worked on in the field.

Then I hope they fix the heavy bolt lift. They do so much so well that its a shame they are so consistantly crap with the bolt lift.

That is what aftermarket tuning is for. I can easily resolve this issue.

Look at all the things that go into fixing a Rem and no one seems to complain....much.

I meant Savage wants to go after the military and major LE contracts. I am sure the goal is to become a mainstream top tier supplier instead of being a 'sporting arms' only company.

Jerry,
I know I took your answer out of context. :p But the bolt lift ..... :)

BTW, when are you going to give a report on your Axis? Please.:)

Got so many articles to finish up. Work has been great leaving little time for much else.

Will see what I can do in the summer.

If you have questions, send me a PM.

I want to do a barrel swap to complete the report but right now, very impressed with the rifle.

All the good stuff that makes a Savage work so well is there. All the extra bits that were engineered for various unimportant reasons is gone. Then some of the common concerns of the Savage have been addressed. There are a few niggles but overall, this rifle performs WAAAAYYYYY beyond its pay grade.
