I have just rechamber a supposed lightly used MCGOWEN barrel in 300WM and the d*** thing build more copper in 4 shots than any other rifle I ever shot in over 100 shots.
even from a new unlapped cut rifling barrel, its not thad bad.

I have tried JB bore bright few times, but with no succes.

is there someting I can do to fix it or is it only good for a tomato stick

I have not slugged or air gaged the barrel but I have a borescope and the bore doesnt seem to have any damage

my hunting Buddy has a pitted Remington barrel that actualy shoot better

I know its has nothing to do with the reamer, because I have used it on a benchmark which shoots 3/4 at 250 yards

any help will be welcome

You can scrub it with JB Bore Cleaning Paste... about 25 strokes on a good bronze brush... and then try breaking the barrel in...

Or use a copper solvent like WipeOut of Sweets 7.62.

My problem is not about cleaning it,but to solve it
As it is,I will have to buy the CR10 by the 45gal drum

Ihave read about lapping compound on bullets, but...

Breaking it in sometimes can do that... just firing it round after round letting the copper build - it will never break in.

I had a Bartlein barrel that showed scary amounts of copper on the first shot. Cleaned it with Sweet's and fired another shot, noticeably less copper fouling. Cleaned again and fired 3 shots with hardly any copper. Cleaned it again and fired 10 shots, no copper. From then on I only cleaned it when the groups opened up.

I understand, and know about it, but it is a used barrel I got on EE and I have stepped back 1" and reprofile smaller to build another hunting tacdriver for my buddy

I will try breakin like a new again, but if it dont work,I think I will just get another benchmark #5
