I ocasionaly shop around the net to see how the other guys are doing with their loads and velocities, and the guy who shoots nothing greater than 1/2" groups shows up. And this guy shoots the hard hitters, all the belted mags etc. You know, the ones that kick and heat the barrels etc. He does it on warm days, cold days, windy days..... I have read so much about this guy, I would like to be at the range one day when he is there. :ar15:

Actually I met one 2 weeks ago, he was shooting 7mm SAUM rechambered from 7-61 S&L barrel, single shot Savage action, laminate stock and 8x40AO target Leupold scope. When he came back from 500m range I saw half a doz groups in the 3,5" to 5" range and only 4 shots out of two doz outside 6" bullseye and this was his hunting rifle at about 10lbs.

That fellow was an excellent shot with a truly special rifle, and even he had a flier here and there. None of my rifles are in the "always under .5 MOA class. " I have shot some pretty small groups with my rifles, and trying out friends rifles at the range. The URL I mentioned at the start of this thread said somebody never had a flier.

To steal a phrase, 'The most annoying man in the world.' 'Stay inadequate my friends.'

Boys, lots of rifles will shoot under an inch but not many shooters can make it happen. It takes a pile of trigger time to get good. And, let's face it, shooting off sandbags from a concrete bench has NOTHING to do with field accuracy. Hunters do not need 1/2 inch groups and anyone who believes they do must be hunting grasshoppers.

Plus, gunrunner8, it would seem to me that a .5 inch group at 100 yards should be 2.5 inch at 500..
I can hold about 2 inches with my 7x57, it has worked very well for me....
