Hey Gang,

Looking at making up some 12ga dummy rounds. I have the crimper, tons of empty hulls and all that, but I am unsure of what to use for media (weight).

What do you guys use? Walnut shells...etc etc etc?

I use a fired primer, fine sawdust in place of powder, regular wad and lead shot to get correct crimp. This is inert, weighs and handles the same as a live round, and if you use once fired hulls they last a long time.

I use Orange Winchesrer AA hulls because I never actually shoot those. So they are easy to identify from all my ammo.
I remove the primer and clean off the black lettering too.

Seat a wad, add a little wood glue pour in a partial 1 1/8 oz scoop of shot, add more glue, more shot, more glue, crimp and seal with glue. Let stand for a week or 2.

They last quite a while and I practice quad loads with them.
