My club is having a pumpkin shoot on Sunday and I don't have time/money to make any hollow point bullets. Do you think drilling a hole in the tip would help them expand more? I would be using 124gr AIM 9mm. Being plated and not jacketed I don't think I have to worry about leaving a jacket inside the barrel. They would be just for the pumpkins so I wouldn't be too worried about accuracy (as long as I can hit the pumpkin). Feeding issues maybe?

A pumpkin doesn't offer much resistance. I doubt you'd notice any difference between HP and FMJ ammo. As for your question taking off a bit of weight won't harm anything. At worst your gun might not cycle properly and perhaps the powder would burn a little dirtier. IMO it's a pretty silly idea though...

big marinating syringes to fill pumpkins with water is a good idea dude.
