Making a GSG 16 Restricted?

If I add a Dlask 9" barrel to my GSG 16 but decide to use a working HK MP5 collapsible stock instead of a fixed stock the length could be made less than 660mm (26") and therefore restricted.

What would I have to do to get it registered as such and now that it would be restricted would there be a restriction on capacity?

I get the desire for what you're wanting to do, but why on earth would you want to invite the government into your business?
Sounds like Ruger Charger territory.

What Ben in Canada said. What do you need to make it shorter for other then look. I have the 9” barrel with fixed stock and I wouldn’t change a thing . Why would you only want to shoot in a range and have driving restrictions.

Personally, I don't think this is a good move. However, to answer your question, it is quite straightforward. Call the CFP and state your intention. They will direct you to the right office...

All you have to do is call them up and make a request to register it. They may want pictures. You don’t need a verifier or anything in the vast majority of cases.

Sounds like you want to bring heat on rimfire rifle owners and introduce more restrictions. Justin would love you for it.

Why would one restricted 22 bring any interest in anything? I use the GSG as a fun range gun and something exciting for the kids to shoot. The kids can shoot much better with an adjustable collapsible stock as the gun will fit each of their arm lengths with a quick adjustment. Getting my kids out on the range is a priority and I believe if we are going to continue this sport we need more youth getting out there and shooting.

I believe we should all be getting our restricted licenses and not just nr as a protest against the corrupt anti gun legislation. The more people who belong to clubs and own restricted firearms the stronger we'll be, not less

While I'd love to hear you explain this piece of nonsense, there's already a restricted FRT.

Yes it is. A 230mm barrel is RESTRICTED.

Sounds like you are being a responsible firearms owner who wants to keep his firerams legal. I fail to see how this "brings heat on rimfire rifle owners and introduce more restrictions". I do not think that the PM has any interest in this at all.

You should be congratulated for being responsible not castigated unreasonably.

This x1000.

If you're following the law, It's proof the law is doing what was intended.

Personally I don't think That I would be putting myself in a position where I have to deal with all the paperwork and nonsense BS just to be able to collapse the stock when I'm not shooting it. But all the power to you if you feel it's worth it. Just know that in that state it will be hard to resell at the similar value as a non-restricted 9 inch barrel version if you decide to move on from it. That being said you can convert it back to NR Quite easy enough if you're willing to spend approximately $25 for verifiers report and some time submitting and waiting on a little bit of paperwork for the CFO

I just drilled and tapped a hole in the stock and installed a machine head screw with red locktite. This was placed so the mid position would engage on a G&G collapsible A3 style airsoft stock but stop the stock from collapsing any more than the mid position. With a muzzle device (A2 flash hider with jam nut) installed the rifle was 26.5" in the mid position for kids and smaller statured folks to shoot. The stock could move between mid and full extended positions and stay non restricted with the Dlask barrel.

One customs case attracted RCMP attention and banned high capacity mags for 10/22 owners.

Flash hiders and brakes do not add to the barrel length regarding OAL legal description.

im not here to give you grief about bringing the heat as others have.

I also have a GSG-16 and the adjustable stock is fantastic with kids!

But i question if you have totally thought this through. (you are trying to follow the laws and that is commendable)

-if you make it restricted it will be a giant PIA to ever sell and you wont get full price. You can try an unregster it but that is still work
-you can only ever shoot it at a range. if a friend with property says "hey we are shooting cans and gophers on Saturday, come on over" the GSG needs to stay home
-your kids can get their PAL at 12 but they cant get RPAL till 18. They cant use it unless you are within arms reach for 6 extra years.

My reco is buy a second GSG-16 and leave it with original barrel and adjustable stock for the kids.
- i like the longer barrel with the kids for safety as it helps with muzzle control

then you can share the mags and any other spare parts
