if i were going to cut one of those, i'd use a mill with some type of major cooling set up. or a very fine hack saw blade and do it slow, stopping whenever any heat is felt in the mount. this will prevent any warping from the cuting. remember, that bridge as machined right now, once removed, could cause warping depending how much stress is in the steel.
i'm not well versed in the history of the ARMS 18 and why they switched to a solid rail from the original S.W.A.N. mount, perhaps warping became an issue with the swan's cut out design?
