making custom vz58 in 6.5 grandel

second question what calibers can be possible to convert a vz too i was also looking at 22-250 as its more common but i may just get one one up whit a new barrel in same caliber

Dlask has stated they will not do it and I've also contacted Herron Arms about doing something like this and they have said they will not. I suppose there is no harm in asking but this is likely the answer you can expect.

Correction to the above: That's not true. I reviewed the email I sent them for my own curiosity.

Hi Dave
I have worked on the cz858 rifles and I have converted one to 6.5 Grendel. But I converted it back to the original due to magazine and slam fire issues. The slamfire issues could be resolved by using hard military primers but the mag is still a problem because of the difference in body taper. A better choice would be a wildcat 6.5x39 which has some following in the U.S. It is quite costly to rebarrel a vz58 due to the labour involved with a pressed in barrel and complexity in removing the old barrel. So in short expect to pay close to the price of a used quality cz858 for a new barrel. If you are still interested we can talk more

Hello,

I've recently come across an inexpensive non-restricted CZ 858 with a badly rusted barrel and I was thinking of getting it rebarreled. Have you worked on these rifles before? Also, what do you think of a rebarrel/rechamber in 6.5 Grendel - is it possible or impractical? At this point in time, I'm just trying to determine all my options with this rifle.

Thanks,

So, it sounds like it could be done - just not for very cheap. Then you have the issues with slamfires which make it not a terribly good option in my opinion.
