I bought a Savage 110 Tactical in 308 last year that I'm really fond of. The only thing that bothered me about it was the grip angle, which was more of a sporter style and wasn't the most comfortable off a bench or prone. I waited and waited for GRS to release the Bifrost in a Lefty Savage configuration.. but last week I got impatient and decided to take matters into my own hands! I give you... TheNatural's first DIY rifle stock project.

Started like this:

I wanted something more like this:

So I got out the apoxie putty, drill, and sandpaper and did this:

It's not quite as cool looking as the GRS I wanted, but the grip is molded to my hand and incredibly comfortable. I also recessed a piece of Anshutz rail in the fore end for my MPOD and drilled for sling QD cups in a couple places. The rail screws into the aluminum accustock bedding block and should be very solid. I still have to bed the rail, do a little more sanding, and paint it, but so far it's going pretty well.

I love the look and feel of the GRS stock but not the price... good luck with your build! They can be lots of fun and very rewarding.
Cheers

"Finished". The paint I used doesn't seem to be holding up very well; I'll probably end up repainting and adding a couple clear coats in the somewhat near future. For now though... kick ass ergonomics, "accustock" bedding, QD sling cups, Anschutz rail for the MPOD recessed enough so it is still comfortable to shoot offhand, sub MOA accuracy, and all for about $1000 before taxes (optics, rings, bipod not included of course).
