I am interested in making my own set of wood for my bubba'd #1 mark III* as I am having a hard time finding a reasonable set to buy. I have searched this forum and found nothing. Does anyone have a set of drawings for the wood, or would it be possible for someone to make a casting of theirs and sell it to me. any information would be appreciated. Thanks in advance for any info you can throw my way.

mkIII* wood isn't that hard to find. Certainly less work than making your own. I have a set of Indian MKIII* wood I would be willing to part with, PM me if you're interested.

Something you might want to consider. You might want to find an old, complete beater No.1 stock to use as a template. Since most bubba's don't mess with the butt stock, all you would need is a fore stock and hand guards.

I had seen the thread mentioned above but it doesn't give any details as to how he came up with the template. I like the idea of finding an old beater stock but when I have the time to look through the EE or surf the web I seem to keep missing any deals that are out there! And you are correct my butt stock is in good shape so it is only the front part i need. I have sent Gary D a pm so hopefully he will have what I am looking for. Thanks again for the help.

I have a beat up cutdown No1 forestock you can have for free to use as a template for the receiver area if you are intent on making your own forestock. Just let me know and it's yours.

no idea but a lot of work is needed to handcraft a stock.

If you ever figure it out, post it. I am planning of making a stock for a No.4 if i can find one with chopped wood and metal intact. I am gonna make it a fancy one, maple, stained a deep wine red and polished to a shine. The color will be similar to Gibson guitars wine red they use on there Les Paul and SG line of guitars.

Good source of cheap quality wood are reject guitar blanks that were rejected due to a small flaw, or a pattern which was off or something. I talked to a gunsmith who showed me a chunk of curly maple guitar blank which he got for around 45 bucks. You will have to splice two pieces together for the fore stock but it would still be a good idea.
