I have a Swedish Mauser that's been drilled and tapped for scope mounts.

So, for fun, I mounted one of the Leupold clones and took it out to the range.

Here's what it did -

and at 300 yards:

Just in case anyone was wondering if the Swedish Mausers can shoot. :)

Nice shooting.. :)

Probably be a tighter group if it was eltorro's K98k with iron sights ... :D

Just kidding .... :D :D

Once a year, we go up to Milcun and knock down 12" steel plates with these old girls (M41/b) at 600 meters using Swedish milsurp m/41 ammunition. They're easy on the shoulder and great shooters.

Regards,
Badger

My M/96 is also regrettably a D&T special

It also had a uber-sensitive Timney trigger that I ditched, replaced it with an real two-stage military trigger.

The crown looks shot on my rifle, but it groups like yours. With careful handloads, at 100M the rounds will (on a good day) touch.

My first purchase, 150$. I will likely never sell it because it was the first one that I ever called mine. ;)

I haven't tried the Match Kings yet (but the Sierra Game Kings shoot awesome in my TRG 21). These targets were shot using moly-coated Hornady AMax's, with IMR 4831 (just playin' at the range).

Good shooting!
I'm working on my swedes too.
The 38 is a bubba too, so I'll start with that.
I need some higher front sights, however.
4831 is exactly waht I'm using.
I'll break in some varget over the 160 RNs.
Keep up the good work....;)

H-4831 and the 160 grainers

I think H-4831 would be a lot better than Varget with those heavy bullets, IMHO.
Varget usually is better with 120gr. and lighter bullets in tight-necked cartridges.
PP.

I've got some Varget loads prep'd with 120 grain Sierras. They're very good in my Tikka 695. I guess I should try them in the M-38. I was expecting that the military Swedes were designed to shoot the heavier (i.e. 160 grain) bullets.

Anyone have experience with how they handle lighter bullets?

haha! it was also my first rifle to call my own I aslo will never sell it. Mine wasnt a D&T though, still all original.

Well, it caters to the "scope it" instinct without having to shoulder the blame of having drilled it.

I admit that I shoot it with a scope on ;)

The mounts can be unscrewed, the trigger was replaced but I can`t put the 4 inches or so of wood that bubba likely broke off when taking off the stock to sand :)eek: ) it....

My only milsurp regret (other than not owning a Mosin) is that none of the firearms I own have a cartouche in the stock

true.
But I only have one can of 4831 and more of the Varget. I was planning to use the Varget for my 308s, but I'll get confused, use it in the M14 and it is kind of slow for the semi. I'll load 4895 & Benchmark in the 308... and that will leave me plenty of Varget to play with...

For $150 , I'd be all over that rifle like wrinkles on a rasin !
Nice rifle , and nobody can blame you for the D+T

IMHO that particular scope just don't look right on it. Too big or something ..

Anyhoo...yer gonna have fun with that one ! ;)
