The mags are hideous and $140 lol.
The bottom metal would be cool if they took AICS mags and not those proprietary eyesores.

Yeah but for aics mags your looking at 160 for bottom metal plus inlet cost plus mag cost so this is better value in my book

If it's just a mag that fits your existing platform them yeah, I agree, you are kind of limited on options. My 700's were dropped into various chassis that take AICS mags, mostly because I wanted better stocks but also for the AICS mags.
I have a couple of OEM savage 10 round mags, they were $90 a pop which I felt was pretty steep, but I wasn't going to replace the HS stocks as they are pretty decent just for AICS mags, so I get it, just find those mamba mags ridiculous looking and priced lol.
Then again, a plastic 5 round Tikka mag is $100 rip off already, so you Tikka guys are probably use to it.

Other then the Tikka and 783, you can get those LSI mag kits for a little over $100 that include bottom plastic and a 10 round mag, they are made pretty cheap obviously, but I dunno, if I need to convert to mags for a cheap factory stock I'd probably just get the LSI outfits.

Yes I just figured for no mods to my Tikka and getting ten rounds it's not bad. Yes mags are crazy price for tikkas even stock ones lol. I kinda like the look of this one...yes I'm weird lol

You can always rely on MDT to price gouge

Well, if you think you can manufacture and sell one for less... the market is wide open!
- It's pretty much a niche product. Mainstream manufacturers won't go there are the volume of sales needed to justify the manufacturing isn't there.

And as far as $$ goes, one can always wait for their once-a-year black-Friday sale.

If it's for a field gun, you need to carefully consider the benefit of adding the weight of ten rounds and that huge appendage of a mag hanging down right where you want to carry a rifle.

But what the hey, it's still pretty cool.

It is just my personal opinion, but for a field gun, 3 - 5 rounds is all you ever "need." I think most of those large capacity mags hanging
down well below the triggerguard are ugly, and as Supecub noted, right on the balance point of many rifle, making awkward carry a reality.
But, whatever floats your boat. :) Dave.

I think more ppl are range blasters then actual hunters now adays. Admittedly i own both types. For hunting and stalking i much prefer ease of carrying with flush bottomed firearms. For setting up over a larger expanse and calling i generally bring a gun with larger mags. If mdt had 5 rnd 223 aics mags id prolly order a couple but for now i use my 10rnd mags. As of yet ive never needed more than 2 shots calling coyotes. Ive only once had a pair come in. All others have been single coyotes needing only 1 shot a piece
I will say ive been happy with the 3 mdt chassises and various other parts i own made by mdt
