This may have been posted before and being a bit new to the custom rifle thing I have a hopefully quick question

I have a Tikka that I want to get re-barred to put a bit of a heavier barrel and muzzle threaded, I have a Krieger blank that i will use. Just wondering if anyone in the Manitoba(preferably) or Sask can recommend a good gunsmith to help me out. Also just wondering if anyone can give me an estimate on the cost.

Thanks

You get what you pay for, gunsmiths are no exception to that rule. I'd be wary of any cheap gunsmith, unless you don't care so much for quality.

Insite is the only gunsmith that I would recommend to anyone in Canada. I know too many people that have ended up spending more money, time and lots of frustration by going the "cheap gunsmith" route in Canada.

I've had precision rifle work done by GAP, Tactical Operations, Roberts Precision Rifles, TS Customs, and Insite, and Insite is every bit as good as the other gunsmiths listed here. I'm very particular about my gunsmiths.

Lots of good gunsmiths in Canada, some better than others, some cheaper than others, some have faster turn around times than others etc. as for you question PGW is in Manitoba and does some good work.

As does Shawn_338 of Badlands Precision for those of you who are not aware. Although not in Manitoba.

There is a reputable smith in Brandon. I personally have not had any work done by them, but they have a display at gunshows and their work looks good. Talked to him, seems to be pretty knowledgeable.

R P S International in Alberta did some work for me, good to work with.

Ever Tryed ? Mitch Kendall in Kamloops or Gary Flach in Langley or Terry at Black Art Gunsmithing in Summerland ? Just askin RJ

Never tried them. I know Mitch does a buddy of mine's rifles and another buddy has mentioned Gary, I'm sure they do good work.. I'm just not one to shop around once I've found a smith who's work and service checks all my boxes.
