Manitoba Waterfowl Hunt

So anybody heading out for opening weekend in Manitoba for waterfowl?
I realize its early, but I'm curious just the same. I'll be heading out on the Sunday to the marsh.

Just bagged 41 canadas and 18 ducks today

My party shot 23 Canadas, 2 Sandhills, and 4 Mallards this weekend.

How did you get the Sandhills and at what location? I've always wanted to get one but I never see them in the mornings, only around noon when they're flying hundreds of yards high.

I went waterfowling for the first time in 13 years on Saturday morning. I had a blast, one the funnest hunts I've been on in a while. We did ok, 4 of us got 17 Canada's and 5 ducks. I plan on doing another one this weekend, gotta get a few hunts in before I go to moose camp.

Good work, DragonFire. Were you in the fields or the marsh?

I can only report a meager take from Sunday morning; 3 nice mallards. No decoys nor dog at a beaver pond, so I had to carefully pick my shots so that the birds would fall where I could get to them.

GM, we were in both. More birds are appearing every day also according to a friend. Try that spot I showed you. You can walk to the water in sneakers, it is so dry. Try half a doz dekes in that bay too.
