I purchased this rifle at a auction and I am having a hard time tracking down ammo for it does anyone know where I could get some? It fires the 8x50r I will post pictures later if anyone is interested in seeing the rifle.

8X50R Austrian is not sold or available (since the 1940's I believe when the Italians used this round). I do not even think there is brass available to reload it. I own a carbine in this caliber, and have hand loaded for it using custom dies, and brass trimmed down and re-formed (in the die) from 8X56R Austrian. I am looking to sell my carbine and possibly the dies and other equipment as well.

I just use 7.62x54R Russian, FL resize the brass, trim, open out to an 8mm and reload. I am using LEE 8x51 LEBEL dies for the neck and shoulder.

Works fine.

Biggest problem with these was that original ammo used a 244-grain RN bullet. I am loading with 150s and 175s, so it does tend to shoot "just a ittle bit high".

These are a fun rifle and no problems at all with making up ammo.

Go to it.
