Mannlicher M95M Non Sporter - Who Else Has One?

Hello!

I am looking to make, at least for CGN, a tally of who owns the venerable, and rare, non sporterized, full military config Mannlicher M95 "M" modified from 8X56R to 8X57 Mauser by the Yugoslavians!

These rifles are rare, extra points if your is fully matching to boot! Pictures are more than welcome, as well as stories of acquisition!

I purchased mine from a fellow collector this year. It was aparently sitting in a basement for a very long period of time, and he is unsure where it originated from.

Specs:

Stock, Bolt, Bolt Head, Magazine, Magazine Plate (All) Matching, serial number 22242
Bore is about a 8 of 10, very sharp lands, clean grooves, no gray or pitting, shiny surfaces.

I have three with full wood (two Budapest, and one Budapest with the crest), and six sporters.

I have found M95M's to be common in sporter configuration, but scarce with full wood, and this was the case even 10 years ago. One of my full wood I bought as is (the one with crest which is very scarce), and for the other two I acquired the stocks and fittings from the US, in one case it was an outright purchase, and the other was a straight-up trade for an extractor and magazine clip. Full wood M95M's are fairly common in the US, while extractors and clips are not - reverse to the situation in Canada. This made it obvious what I was to do, and so I did about five years ago.

What I really want is a M95/24, even a restorable sporter.
 
Didn't they have a reputation for breaking extractors rather easily?And used 98 stripper clips?Harold
 
I have an M95 long rifle in 8*56R. Just shot it last weekend for the first time, what a sweet rifle! Used ammo from 1938 as well with no hiccups and nice grouping! It was shooting about 6" high at 80 yards though and the rear sight was in the lowest setting.

For the record. The extractors are quite sturdy, so long as a simple rule is followed: ALWAYS load the magazine and then feed the round into the chamber with the bolt, NEVER single load it by hand. The reason is that the extractor does not have enough play to "jump" the back of the round to sit in the rimless groove if loaded into the chamber by hand. This is what causes them to break. Yes, they were loaded with a 5 round standard 8mm Kar98K style stripper clip/charger.

I'm not sure about 7.62X56, as the original calibre was 7.92X50R Austrian, the revised calibre was 8X56R, with a bullet diameter of .330 I believe. A little larger than the original .323. They also fired HEAVY bullets, around 240 grains or so.
 
My Dad gave me mine. He had it for years and never shot it. Said he couldn't get ammo for it anymore. I was lucky enough to find 2 - 10 round boxes at our local gun shop! It was like pop's spirit wanted me to try it out... :)
