Howdy all
This past weekend I picked up a sporterized Mannlicher M95M (8x57) at my local gun show. I've spent the last day doing some research on it and have come to the understanding that this rifle was rechambered from 8x56R and made to use stripper clips.

The rifle appears to be missing the part that converted the en bloc magazine into a stripper fed magazine, so I was wondering if anyone would have some info on IF/where I may find one, if I might be able to use an en bloc in it's place or if I'm destined to use it only as a single shot?
Also any information on where I might find a stock replacement would be appreciated, as I'd like to restore the rifle to a somewhat original condition.

Thanks in advance.

Be more specific about which part is missing? The internal en-bloc? Many of these conversions have lost them over the years. Shooting as a single shot is not good for the extractor which is another hard to find part. There was a poster I think on Gunboards who was reproducing the correct 8mm en-bloc for these as you are far from the only person in the same predicament. I am not sure where that project ended up. It's also nice to see a Budapest made receiver.

Yes the internal en bloc, which acted like the feed lips on regular magazines is what's missing.

The M95Ms weren’t converted from 8x56r, rather 8x50r. Those internal 8mm mauser clips are like hens teeth, as mentioned you basically need to buy a rifle with it already. I have no idea why they are so common to be missing, likely people who just don’t understand the rifle system.

If you do shoot it as a single shot the only way to effectively do it is to load the round onto the bolt face from the under side under the extractor then shut the bolt. Very difficult to do by hand.

Just feeding it into the chamber and shutting the bolt will break the extractor very quickly and that is a very difficult part to find thanks to so many doing that over the years.

Sorry for your luck on this rifle, odds are to sort it out you will basically have to buy another one. Someone sold you their problem gun without disclosing it to you. The only good side I see is that now you will have a idea what to look for.

Not necessary a solution to your problem, but I own an M95 and use a single shot adapter to feed single rounds. I wonder if the same device (or make a new one) could be used for the M95M?

Ebay has them for US$22. No idea about shipping to Canada though.

I sent the guy who makes them a message, so hopefully. But if he doesn't ship to Canada, I might be able to get the STL file and make & adjust it with help of a buddy who does 3D printing.
