T.E.C listed 5 exclusive MR revolvers on the website today. One MR73 HB .357 mag, two MR38 Match and two MR32 Match. Priced @ $3895 each.

The MR73 is part of a special run with a heavy barrel (full length underlug) for a US importer.

These are one of the best revolvers in the world along with the fabulous Korths.

Been looking for a MR73 for quite some time. But it sold before I got to it...

$3900 seems like strong pricing but I guess that's just an indication of the weakness of our dollar against the Euro. I think the last MR73 I saw offered at retail was somewhere around $3k

Exactly, the € trades at $1.57 today. Spoke to Anthony about pricing and he confirmed it was due to the currency conversion. Still, it’s on the high side but the MR73 HB version is a special run with a special price tag it seems.

What can a 686 do that a Hi-Point can't? What can a custom Holland and Holland sxs do that a Stoeger can't? Better quality, better made etc etc.

I thought about this and while I see your point, I think it becomes a question of diminishing returns. In my opinion the difference between a Hi Point and and a SW would likely be more than a SW and a Manurhin. Or maybe it's just that I would more easily notice the difference. Of course these are my thoughts without ever having held either a Manurhin or a Korth. Maybe I'm underestimating them.

Not a bad analogy but that is true for a lot of things. A $100,000 car isn't necessarily 5x better than one costing 20K either........ but it almost certainly is much nicer.;)

Good point. I wish there was a way we could all get together and let each other try out our guns. That would be a fun day at the range! The Okanagan has a lot of guns but not so many that I'd say there's a Manhurin or Korth... I assume they're fairly rare.

After handling both I believe you are underestimating them...

Since I can’t afford a new MR73 (plant closed = no pension), how about somebody being kind enough to do a range report with some gun and target photos? Thx.

what does a MR73 have that a S&W does not

well it has a non crooked barrel, a crown that does not look like dog poo, match trigger out of box, forcing cone that is properly finished and free of other S&W quality control issues.

S&W is a inspect carefully before you buy gun, It’s really too bad considering their old guns were world class.

^^^ Yes...

You have to handle one at a minimum to appreciate the difference. All forged parts, deep deep deep non environmentally friendly old school bluing, internals use bearings, adjustable trigger with no change in hammer strength, hand fitted by pros...

Only drawback is pricing...but then you are getting a mass produced assembled out of MIM parts and castings and machined barrel blank with the modern S&W 19-9 (comparable size etc) for $1,050. Is it worth the 3x + price? That depends on the buyer...

I can bring a S&W Model 19 over from the states with a 106mm barrel and the pinned barrel and recessed cylinder from the 70’s for about $1800 bucks...it will be smooth and whatnot but it will still never be the MR73...a Colt Python will cost a pretty penny. Still don’t think it’s up to the MR73.
