Ya…It’s alright if you like that kind of thing. They're all nice...especially the last one...![]()
OK I’ll go first. This is more like the last month and a half:
Mint MAS 36/51 that came with the sling, butt pad and a box of ammo:

Remington M1903 (Modified) with a replacement scant stock:

A nice 1945 Long Branch No.4. Unfortunately bubba refinished the stock but for $325.00 I couldn’t walk away:

And last but not least an all matching No4.Mk1(T) with it’s chest and scope tin:
![]()
That Long branch is SWEET. I wouldn't consider that a bubba job though. More of a restoration then a preservation.
March of 2008 purchase
Too bad I have to leave it in the U.S. when I'm done school. Unless I can find a legal, 4+ inch barrel for it...
#4mk1(T), how much is you're namesake going for these days?
Mmmm Hungarian goodness...just dont toss the original barrel. Leave it somewhere safe!
Thanks for the feedback.
From the looks of the stock it didn’t need to be refinished. The rifle looks as if it were un-issued. The person who did the work just wanted the rifle to look "better". If the work was done well the rifle was still in service that would have been just fine but it wasn’t. A rifle is only original once and anything done to it post service is technically bubba. I have a nice 1945 CNo.7 that has had a bit of bubba’s handy work done to it. The inspection stamps between the two rifles all match except for one. I suspect these two rifles came down the assembly line within a few hours of each other. Though also a bubba thing I’m going to swap the wood between the two. This I my eyes will be more of a restoration of sorts and will put all the bubba bits on the Cno.7. Still not original but closer.
