Ok, I'll start off the March thread.

Not gun related, I bought a repro WWII denison paratrooper smock from WPG, as well as an WWII enfield sling, and a repro 1st pattern Hi-Power holster.

(Image copied off of the WPG site).

Also, on ebay I got a leather M1 vehicle scabbard and a complete british WWII MKII helmet.

And, gun related, I'm not sure if this counts as milsurp, but its a Spanish destroyer carbine, 6 rnd detachable magazine, calibre 9mm largo (9 x 23).

Cheers!

... and a repro 2nd pattern Hi-Power holster.
Repro?

I can't imagine that anyone would be reproducing these, since originals are still quite common, in unissued condition. Are you sure that's not what you've got - what markings does it have? (Markings should be under the flap - the "new" holsters commonly available are almost always 1945 dated, with a "Z L & T Ltd" maker mark and a "TPL" stamp signifying treatment with a fungicide for "tropical" issue - these were being stockpiled in anticipation of Canadian (and lots more British) forces being transferred to fight in the Pacific Theater, but the war with Japan didn't last anywhere near as long as had been feared, what with the little surprise the United States had up its sleeve ...)

Mind you, if you got the holster from WPG, it will be a repro 1st pattern holster - like this original:

That image comes from my online photo-essay (Small Arms: Service Pistols) on the Canadian Soldier in the 20th Century website - a great place to visit, and bookmark!

Grant,
My bad, it is a 1st pattern. I accidentally posted that it was a 2nd. Above post edited.

as far as i know the one mark with U.S was sent to the states as a training rifle to free up the springfields the statres were using at the time are all 3 of them .303's?

Yes, aparently also issued to prison guards from what I've been told. You should pm "Longbranch*". He collects Ross Rifles and has all the reference material. Alas, they are not my "forté". I can tell you it was first issued in 1910 though...

I just closed a deal on a sporterized K98 with double claw mounts and an old German scope with a leather scope case to boot. Unfortunatly the barrels been cut and the original sights are gone. I'm going to put on an appropriate stepped barrel and bring it back to military configuration this summer. The scope and mounts look like those in Law's BBOTW II on page 126.

What did your Denison smock cost? There is a militaria dealer in Manitoba that is selling first pattern Denisons from the now defunct Harlann Glen. I have one of these I bought a few years ago for $199.00 USD that looks so real it is scary when I compared it to an original. Are the snaps Newey? Just curious about the details of different reporductions, thanks.

Robbs,
That would be Military Tour right? I have bought some items from them; nice guys. The ones they have now are $275 USD I think. I ordered mine from What Price Glory for $135, and have heard lots of good reviews on them.

The seller threw in the commie ammo pouch, so it'll suit my m38 just fine.

Actually, here are a couple of pics of the nice M44 I'm holding for a friend, he posts on the forums as K-Roc. I've got it until he gets his PAL at the end of the month.
He's gunna bring this baby bearhunting this fall.
