high does anyone know if the henry mare's leg in a restricted in canada in .22 cal. I know its under the 660mm but its a lever and .22. sorry if its already been asked but couldnt find a thing bout it

thanks guys looking to get one but no one in quebec was sure. hows it shoot btw

Fun to shoot, I'd say a limitting factor for accuracy(aside from short stock) would be sights, so don't expect to shoot the nuts off a gnat at 100 yards. I've only fooled around with it on crown land, haven't done proper paper testing yet.

I intend to try it on grouse this fall if I get a chance to go hunting.

I asked the RCMP about it. They said that since the thing is a lever operated action, the 327mm barrel length wasn't an issue. Non-restricted.

In the states, it's listed as a pistol since short rifles are illegal, just in case you intend to go south.

As for how it shoots, it's a fun gun. Not very accurate at extended range since it's hard to get a consistent hold (nothing to put your cheek up against) and the short barrel makes it jump. I'm still experimenting with different sights to see what works well.

Also, be careful when you cycle the action soas not to stovepipe a round. It happens occasionally on mine if I cycle too fast and I'm not paying attention. Keep a wood skewer around in case you need to pry the round down/out - and don't use a metal object as you may pierce the cartridge.

Overall, it's a fun plinker, and the action is really as smooth as they advertise. A very satisfying way to go through a box of ammunition.

Great gun - Really enjoyed mine while I had it. Action is very nice, and the wood is great for the price point.

Aluminum receiver, same as all entry-level Henry levers. Would have preferred steel, but then it would have been more expensive. Accuracy is somewhere between rifle and handgun, as you'd expect. Definitely on the rifle side of the spectrum, IMO.

Thanks for all the replies guys, gonna have to convince te wife now I need a new toy. I've already told her you like buying shoes, I like buying guns, which hold there value more and which can be passed on to our kids?

I put the stock to my cheek, I'm convinced it's the best way to shoot it.
