I have this scope left from a Mk12 type AR that I parted out. It's a nice scope that I'd like to re purpose but I'm not sure what to do with it.

It seems this scope was geared towards the DMR application so would it be silly to swap this thing over to my .308 LTR? The scope has a 62gr BDC turret on it but I can get a different turret from Korth for not a whole bunch of money. 9X doesn't feel like a lot of magnification for shooting past 3-400 meters but maybe that's just my lack of experience shooting at longer ranges. Is 3-9 a reasonable option on a rifle that may see use to say, 600 meters? There's probably no right answer but opinions are welcome.

If the consensus is that it's not the right optic for the rifle, what's a fair value to ask for in trade for something I could use? It has M2 turrets and illuminated reticle. Not sure if the 3-9 hurts its value vs the current 2.5-8 model? Looks to be around a $1500 USD value new?

If you were aiming at a very small mark, you might not be able to see it with 9x. Definition of the image, coupled with reticle size.
I pulled a target - conventional cardboard silhouette - for a shooter at 600m. The scope on the .308 hunting weight rifle was a Leupold 1 1/2-5, with target turrets added, duplex reticle. 2 sighters, followed by10 hits.
Your scope should be fine. I don't even know if I would bother to change the BDC turret. Work your way back, and make a note of the elevations for different ranges. If it isn't convenient, Korth can change things for you.

Ah ok, gotcha.

I did shoot with 4x to 500 meters for service rifle and it was doable but it sure wasn't with the kind of accuracy the LTR is capable of.

Maybe before I get too carried away I'll do like you say, just try it as is, get it sighted in and see how it works. Worst case scenario I'm not happy and I flip it.
