MARK II 17 HMR · BVSS trigger

I have a MARK II 17 HMR · BVSS Savage. overall I'm not impressed with the finish, bullet feed and trigger pull... I'll expand:
The finish: the reciever has deep milling marks from when it was bored... I think with some light sandpaper and a dowl on a drill I could smooth it out.
Bullet feed: the mag is a little loose so it sits low in the reciever. this causes the bullets to drive into the chamber. holding the mag up fixes this!
trigger pull: VERY heavy!! I haven't taken it apart yet to see if there is any adjustment in there. (not an accutrigger)
This thing is a fun tackdriver plus the wife likes to shoot it so I'd like to try to fix it rather than getting rid of it. Any input or advice on any of these isuues would be greatly appreciated.
thanks

I probably wouldn't bother with the mill marks unless they are affecting performance also. The current milling marks may well be in a correct geometry, while a drill with sandpaper would tend to smooth things in an uneven way and insert a lot of grit.

Can an accutrigger be switched in? Trigger jobs are a gunsmith proposition unless you are highly confident in your understanding of the issues involved. Most triggers can be improved.

Have you tried switching mags? Other than that I would be trying to figure out what was wrong with the engagement, or give it to a gunsmith.

accutrigger

I inquired about a replacement accu trigger assembly for a mark II bv in 22 cal at western gun parts and the answer is no. They will not sell them in pieces or whole because of the liability. There are however about seven pages of trigger adjustment and modification with a set of feeler gauges on rimfire central dot com. As for your clip problem it is possible that the spring arm that holds the clip in has the notches cut in a little to low and may need to be replaced with a new one. check out rimfire central and see if anyone else has had simular problems and how they corrected them. I corrected my trigger by purchasing a new accutrigger model and couldn't be happier.
